USCIS Completes Data Entry of H-1B Cap Petitions for Fiscal Year 2018

By: Gladys Gervacio

On May 3, 2017, USCIS announced that it has completed data entry of all fiscal year 2018 H-1B cap petitions selected in the lottery. USCIS has started returning all H-1B cap petitions that were not selected. Due to the high volume of petitions received, USCIS stated that it is unable to provide a definite time frame for returning these petitions.

USCIS requests petitioners not to inquire about the status of submitted cap-subject petitions until they receive a receipt notice or an unselected petition is returned. USCIS will announce once all the unselected petitions have been returned.

USCIS also announced that it is transferring some H-1B cap petitions from the Vermont Service Center to the California Service Center to balance the distribution of cap cases. USCIS will mail a notice if the case is transferred.

Premium processing service is still suspended for all H-1B petitions, including H-1B cap cases. Our firm will update you once premium processing service resumes.
