By: Angelita Chavez-Halaka, Armando Escobedo, Gladys Gervacio

Summary

US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced that it will reuse previously submitted biometrics to process extension requests for employment authorization (Form I-765) during the temporary closure of  Application Support Centers (ASC).

What to Expect?

USCIS will reuse previously submitted biometrics if applicants:

  • Have filed a Form I-765 extension application, or
  • Have a scheduled biometrics appointment with an ASC office on or after March 18, 2020 for an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) extension application

Please note: This measure will remain in effect until ASC offices re-open for public appointments. We will continue to provide-up-to-date coronavirus-related changes to USCIS policy, such ASC office closures.
