By: Jioselin Juarez Contreras

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has published their Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 Progress Report. In the progress report, USCIS indicates that their priorities for FY 2023 include:

  • • Making premium processing available for all employer petitions on Form I-140 and specific Employment Authorization Document (EAD) applications for students and exchange visitors onf Form I-765.
  • • Removing the biometric requirement for individuals applying for a change or extension of nonimmigrant status (Form-I-539).
  • • Simplification of major forms including: Employment Authorization Document (EAD’s) (Form-I-765), Adjustment of Status (Form I-485), and Naturalization (Form N-400).

USCIS also plans to add a new fee rule to prevent more backlogs in the future and will continue to provide public engagement on humanitarian programs. USCIS plans to begin the process for their priorities in the next few months and will need Congress' support to meet their mission.
