President Donald Trump has issued a new travel ban limiting travel into the United States from nineteen countries. The ban will only impact new visas; therefore, any visas issued prior to June 9, 2025, will remain unaffected by the new policy.
The new announcement outlined the Trump Administration’s plans to secure the country’s borders from alleged terrorist activity. The ban targets countries based on updated risk assessments that primarily consider terrorist activity, visa overstay rates, and the foreign nation’s current screening and vetting process.
Fully Suspended Countries
The countries that are fully suspended under the new ban are:
Foreign nationals from these countries will no longer be issued new visas. However, there are some exceptions. For example, the ban will not impact individuals who have already been issued visas or current lawful permanent residents.
Partially Suspended Countries
The following countries are partially suspended under the new ban:
Countries under the partial suspension will no longer be used certain visas, including B-1, B-2, B-1/B-2, F, M, and J Visas.
