United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will l no longer accept written reschedule requests for biometrics appointments at the Biometrics Processing Unit (BPU) in Alexandria, VA. Instead, applicants will need to call the USCIS Contact Center to reschedule an appointment and establish good cause for the change. The new policy aims to reduce paperwork and should allow USCIS to process and track requests more efficiently.
When rescheduling an appointment, an applicant should call the USCIS Contact Center at 800-375-5283 before the original appointment time and ask to reschedule. An applicant must establish good cause to reschedule. If an applicant does not establish good cause or if they wait too long to reschedule, USCIS may not approve their reschedule request. If an applicant misses their appointment and does not reschedule it, their application will be considered abandoned.
The Chugh, LLP Immigration team will continue to provide updates and assistance as USCIS continues to streamline their process. For help requesting to reschedule an appointment, or any case specific questions, please contact your Chugh, LLP immigration professional.
